Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

Well hello there! Have you all had a good bank holiday weekend? I was fortunate enough to spend it down in Worthing with the other half and mother. Now, while you’ll normally catch me in jeans on the weekend, as it was Easter, and as it is getting hotter, I have started to dig out all of my Summer dresses. Dressing retro or vintage can often be expensive, with most dresses costing between £35-£65, and they’re not always worth that money. Equally, being plus size, reproduction tends to run small, and that is why I love this Grace Karin dress that is available on Amazon (Rupaul voice anyone?)

I am an absolute sucker for a full circle skirt, which means the fabric is left loose at the waist to flow freely, rather than swing skirts that tend to have a more fitted shape. Add a Hepburn neckline and polka dots, and excuse me while I swoon. Personally, I love bold colours and prints but these dresses come in a multitude of colours and patterns, depending on how much you want to stand out! My advice with sizing is to grab a tape measure and consult the sizing chart! Returning goods online is always a faff so save yourself the effort. This dress is a 3XL, but I also have a 2XL that is slightly more snug in the bust.

So while we are all back at work, albeit for only four days so silver linings, how did you spend your Bank Holiday? Being by the sea has always been somewhere I feel happy, it is where I have spent countless summers as a child, and being a relatively confident swimmer, I love emerging myself in the sea. Sadly, it was still far too cold to fully immerse oneself, so I had to make do with just a dip of the toes!

I hope you all had a glorious weekend and managed to get outside, even if for a moment, Summer is about enjoying yourself so don’t waste it feeling self-conscious!
