Collectif Vintage Arwen Autumn Falls Swing Dress

Hello dolls, how are we all? Sat comfortably and with a cup of warm beverage of your choosing? I am currently here with a very large cup of tea and heavy lids. It is Thursday afternoon, and just after New Year’s so, sleepy is word of the day. As I’ve got older and now have to look like an adult five days a week, I have slowly started to adapt my vintage wardrobe to fit this. I tend to avoid bright bold prints that cannot be incorporated into my everyday wardrobe and pip for more subtle patterns. In comes the Collectif Vintage Arwen Autumn Falls Swing Dress which I initially bought for my birthday but, has slowly started to make my way into the daily rotation of clothes.

The Vintage Arwen Autumn Falls dress is a true circle dress, and what that means is: it has a fitted bodice with a crew neck and long sleeves that nip in at the waist and then has a free skirt with no tapering. The dress itself is fastened by a concealed back zip, with a full circle skirt large enough for a petticoat and a twirl. The dress also comes with a matching sash to pull in your waist, and emphasise an hourglass silhouette. The long sleeves can be a bit restricting, as can the high neck, so it may be worth sizing up if you prefer a more generous fit. On me, being 5’1, the dress hits just below my knee and comfortably fits a petticoat underneath if you want a full ’50s look.

The Vintage Arwen Autumn Falls dress fits, as with most Collectif dresses, slightly smaller than true to size but definitely roomier than other designs. The fabric is 97% cotton and 3% spandex which adds to the comfort of the dress. The fabric is a gorgeous chocolate colour covered in a leaf print with scattered smaller white and pink blossoms.  This fabric continues all over the dress and sash, which adds to the full effect. The dress runs from size 6-22, and with all Collectif dresses, I am wearing a size 18, which I find fitted with a slight bit of room, as long as I don’t wear a padded bra!

Overall, this is definitely one of my favourite dresses, it is a subtle colour but still striking, and really comfortable for everyday wear. Although it is high neck and long sleeved, because there is no lining, the dress is not too restricting or warm to wear all day. It has become a staple in my wardrobe and definitely a repeat item!
