Hello dolls, how are we all doing? The UK is still on lock down and unfortunately that situation does not seem to be changing anytime soon. Between lock down , and starting a new job, getting dressed up day to day has definitely taken a back seat. However, we have been blessed with some wonderful sunshine this weekend and I thought what better time to get out* and take some photos.
*When I say get out, I mean to my garden, not in public, don’t worry, I am very much social-distancing and isolating.
As y’all know, I love me some Collectif clothing, and while their sizing can sometimes be a bit iffy, their styles more than make up for it. Recently I have been investing in a fair few red dresses, and one that I bought back in February for Valentines was the Collectif Paisley Plain Swing Dress in, you guessed it, red! This dress is definitely more vintage inspired than full vintage with puff sleeves, a sweetheart neckline, swing skirt and pockets!
The Paisley Swing Dress is composed of Polycotton and Spandex, more so than other Collectif dresses so it really hugs your curves but the fabric is thick enough to streamline any bumps (but also who cares about a couple of bumps!) I personally love a sweetheart neckline, I think they’re incredibly flattering and just look beautiful and elegant on a garment.
I had some concerns about the puff sleeves, as they can grip especially larger arms, but I found that they were not too tight and quite roomy when worn. I am wearing a 20 in this dress, which runs at 46-48 bust, 38 waist and free hips. As always consult the size chart before ordering, but with the stretch in this dress, I felt I could have sized down. As I mentioned above, the dress is definitely more vintage inspired due to the skirt being that bit shorter than most 40s/50s style dresses, but I still felt retro enough to want to feel comfortable in the dress. However, if you do add a petticoat, I would check the length of skirt to avoid it showing.
The dress is fastened by a concealed back zip and does come with a belt, but I personally don’t enjoy wearing belts that often so omitted it! It has two side pockets that are very roomy and really a bonus in any dress.
Sadly, it is now out of stock but Collectif has many red dresses that are similar in style, and it is likely this dress will return in their Winter collection.
I hope you all stay safe, and enjoy the sunshine, and expect more posts from me soon. I need a hobby during isolation!
